Relax to Lessen Menopause Symptoms

One of the biggest factors that increase the intensity of menopause symptoms is stress. So, if you want to live with less intense symptoms it is time to relax.

A quick technique for relaxing is looking at your breathing. How you breathe can add unnecessary stress on your body. People who are anxious often hold their breath and then speak fast and loud once they exhale. On the other hand people who are depressed often sigh and speak exceptionally soft.
When you want to start using breathing techniques to relax it is important to find a quite place. Find a place with no distractions and where you can sit comfortably.

Rhythmic breathing is a technique to relax the short duration and anxious breathers. First, take in a long slow breath while you count to five as you inhale. Then exhale to a count of five. You should start to feel your body relax as you breathe in a complete long rhythm of inhale for 5 and exhale for 5.
With deep breathing slowly inhale filling your lungs with as much air as you can comfortably. Then work on letting all your air out. Picture in your mind what is stressing you leaving your body as you release all your air out of your lungs. The use of imagery as your breathe is also considered visualized breathing which is a technique of deep breathing. The more you see your stress leaving your body as you breathe the more your mind with relax and believe the stress is gone.

Progressive muscle relaxation works as your breathe slowly similar to rhythmic breathing though without the counting. With progressive muscle breathing starts at your head and feel each part and muscle relax as you work yourself down to your feet. Take special notice and take a few more breathes on any area of exception tension. By the time you reach your feet you will be completely relaxed.

You can also use all of these techniques with use of music. Pick calming and soothing music that works for you. Many instrumental music cds are great choices.

As you start to get your breathing under control and start to relax notice where your mind goes and what you are saying to yourself. As we have mentioned in earlier articles positive thoughts have a great impact on the intensity of your menopause symptoms. During your relaxation time is a great time to see and say in your mind positive affirmations on what is important to do.
